Event Details

Tuesday, February 12, 2019 - all day
Future and Legacy Galleries, AUC Tahrir Square

For her first exhibition in Egypt, Los Angeles-based artist Sherin Guirguis shares the untold story of feminist, activist and poet Doria Shafik (1908 - 1975) through various artwork. The exhibition is inspired by the life and work of Shafik, who, in the 1950s, led an army of women and stormed onto the floor of Egypt’s parliament to demand their rights – earning herself a place in history among the most influential women of the Arab world.
