As AUC’s centennial celebration continues, 2020 also marks 100 years since Sir K.A.C. Creswell — a British Orientalist, knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1970 — began documenting Cairo’s medieval monuments. Explore Creswell’s extraordinary life and work at a special exhibition highlighting his contributions to recording and founding the study of Cairo’s Islamic art and architecture. The exhibit is curated by AUC’s Rare Books and Special Collections Library, which houses his massive collection of photographs and a portion of his personal papers.
The display features rare, never-before-seen or published photographs; aerial photographs of historic Cairo; original documents; hand-drawn plans; and photography equipment. Experience the collection with a new virtual reality 3D effect.
